Keystone

How it works

Four steps. Then your family is never left in the dark.

Keystone isn't a project you have to get around to. It's one afternoon on the sofa — and afterwards, a calm place that looks after itself.

  1. Create your Keystone

Start with what matters most: where things are, who should be contacted, what your family should know. Fourteen categories guide you — and you can always skip and come back.

  2. Invite trusted contacts

Your spouse, your children, your executor. They create a free account and see only what you share — now, or only upon a release. You decide per item and per person.

  3. Seal what matters most

Passwords and codes are sealed in your browser with a passphrase only you know. You print a recovery kit and store it with your will.

  4. Your family gets access when it matters

After a verified release, each contact sees exactly what you chose for them — along with a prioritised guide to the first weeks.

The release

Built like a brake — not a spring

The hardest moment is also the one most services treat too lightly. Here is how a release works at Keystone:

  1. Report

A relative or funeral director reports the death on a public page — no account needed — attaching a death certificate and photo ID. The reporter gets a link to follow the status.

  2. Verification

A human at Keystone reviews the documentation, targeting within 24 hours. If the report is rejected, nothing happens.

  3. 72 hours

Once the death is verified, a 72-hour waiting period begins. The owner is alerted on every channel every 12 hours.

  4. Release — per contact

Keystone opens to each contact individually, with exactly the items the owner shared. A disputed contact can be withheld without making the others wait.

You always hold the veto

Throughout the waiting period you can cancel the release — it requires signing in plus a two-factor confirmation, so a stolen session can neither cancel nor start anything in your name.
